1983 Promotional shop display racket for Yonex R-22 / Rexking 22 racket, 143cm - 3 Autographs on handle.

Manufactured by Yonex. Solid wood with fabric cord strings. Measures 143cm (H) 48 cm (W). Condition: Very good. A few of bumps, dents and scratches as shown in the photographs.

Signed by Tim Henman (Former World No.4), Greg Rusedski (Former World No.4) and Alan Mills (Wimbledon Tournament Referee 1983-2005).

This enormous solid wood racket produced by Yonex is a giant replica of the Rexking 22 (R-22) which came out in 1983 following the success of the earlier REX-series rackets (R-7 and R-10) a year before. Unlike this giant wood version, the R-22 was among the first light-weight graphite rackets on the market. The unusual square head shape of the REX series endures as a signature of Yonex racket design to this day.

It was with the R-22 that, In 1983, Martina Navratilova won the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and US Open in both singles and doubles.

A truly wonderful, unusual and rare item.
